It will take a couple of tries to get it set up, but now that it is I would definitely recommend this product to anyone. Although it takes a little tweeking to get the buttons and functions set properly the remote functions as prescribed. One remote, one button point and click, who would have thought.
This Universal Remote is so easy to program and use.I was able to put the other remotes in a drawer and forget about them.TiVo, HD TV, Reciever Amplifier, DVD Player, Cable Box. This is One Fine Product.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Very disappointed with this product. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. After 3 weeks of use it's not getting better. We had installers doing it and they had problems to get it to work with the satellite receiver.
Already at the start we had problems but thought it has to do with getting used to it. When using the guide, my husband went back to use the satellite remote to scroll down channels because it's a pain in the neck with the Logitech remote. The thing is supposed to turn off all the equipment. For now no problem with the charger but after reading all the charger problems people have after one year I am going to return that remote and look for something else less complicated. We have been using this thing now for about 3 weeks.
The buttons are too small and don't react when pressing them or you have to hold the remote in one hand and press the buttons way down with your other hand. We have not had a problem with the software to install it, but this is because we didn't do it ourselves.
Be sure to download the latest software from the website. I wasn't sure if the Harmony 880 could handle all this, but after some fine tuning on the website, it worked very well and replaced about 7 different remotes. This is the second Harmony 880 I own. I have a very complex setup where I record CATV programs to DVD, VHS tapes to DVD, copy DVDs, and simply watch TV. One caveat: the remote came with a CD with old software on it.
Logitech forces you to create "Activities" and "Devices" for everything you want to do -- which sounds fine except that- Logitech has many poorly designed rules/constraints on an overly guided process- The "learning" process never correctly figures out my devices, and even when I manually add every button it does not work properlyIn short, Logitech forces you through a very guided, complex process that did not work for my basic situation with a Samsung TV and HD Tivo. (I am an engineer who has designed software for an IT company). Incredibly poorly designed software that makes even simple tasks a complex headache. Very frustrating experience - and I am not an idiot with electronics.
